Slot 46
What You’ll Need
A list of API14 well numbers (the 14-digit identifiers for the wells you own interests in), saved in an Excel file. A downloadable template is available in the platform.
If you have a list of the wells you own interests in — usually as API14 numbers — you can upload those directly rather than drawing a tract boundary. This method is common for mineral owners who received well information from a broker or title company.
Preparing Your File
Click Create a Tract and select Upload Excel File. Download the template from the upload screen and use it to format your data — this ensures the platform can read your API14 numbers correctly.
If you have overwrite data ready (known decimal interests from your division orders), there are optional columns for those in the template. You can fill them in now or handle overwrites later.
Uploading and Reviewing
Upload your completed Excel file. The platform matches each API14 to a well in its database and shows you the results: the operator, basin, and well status for each matched well. Review the list to confirm these are the wells you expected.
If any API14 numbers did not match, they will be flagged. This usually means a typo in the number, or the well is not yet in the platform's database for that state. You can correct or remove flagged entries before continuing.
How Tract Geometry Is Generated
Because you are starting from a well list rather than a drawn boundary, the platform builds tract geometries based on the drilling units associated with your wells. Review these boundaries in the Review Tracts step to confirm they represent your mineral interest accurately.
Next Steps
After uploading and reviewing your well list, continue through Review Tracts, Fix Overlaps, Well Overwrites, and Run KPIs. See "Well Overwrites" and "Run KPIs and Read Your Results" to continue.
